Residents are raising concerns about dangerous driving conditions along Route 22, a heavily traveled roadway used by thousands of commuters each day.
Drivers say potholes, cracks and drainage issues have made the stretch increasingly hazardous, especially during peak weekday traffic.
“I ride on this highway every single day, five days a week,” said Armonk resident Josh Egert. “I know how bad it is and more importantly, how dangerous it is. Dodging potholes, cracks — it’s a pretty miserable experience.”
Egert says the conditions prompted him to contact elected officials for the first time, reaching out to State Sen. Shelley Mayer about potential repairs.
Video from the area shows uneven pavement and deteriorating sections of roadway. Civil engineer Peter Nardone, who has previously analyzed local infrastructure, described the road as a “sick puppy” in need of immediate attention.
Despite Westchester County’s reputation as one of the wealthiest counties in the country, residents say safety concerns persist.
News 12 has reached out to the New York State Department of Transportation and is awaiting a response.
