A firefighter was hurt battling a house fire in Suffolk County on Thursday morning.
Crews from multiple departments responded to the blaze around 10 a.m. on Woodcliff Drive in Baiting Hollow, fire officials say.
The Riverhead Fire Department, led by Chief Piotr Kurzyna, tells News 12 units were met with billowing smoke and heavy fire when they arrived on scene at the single-story vacant residence.
The injured responder, who was from one of the mutual aid fire companies, was treated and released at the scene.
Two nearby residences were spared from heavy fire damage.
The cause is still under investigation by the Riverhead Town Fire Marshal’s Office.
