An overnight fire in East Flatbush turned deadly, leaving two people dead and several others without a place to stay.
Police say an 80-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man died after the fire. Both were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The fire broke out just after 11 p.m. inside a building at 446 Kingston Ave., near Empire Boulevard.
Video from the scene shows a heavy emergency response, with fire trucks lining the street as crews rushed inside. Some firefighters were seen going up the stairs with hoses as they worked to get the flames under control.
A firefighter was also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and is expected to be OK.
Officials say the fire is now out, but not before multiple people were forced out of their homes.
Investigators are now working to figure out what caused the fire.
