Strong to severe storms are possible up north tonight with a threat of winds 50-60 mph. A severe thunderstorm watch is posted for Litchfield County until 10 p.m. After about 10 p.m., storms will start to weaken. Localized heavy downpours are also likely.
Showers or storms are also likely farther south, but the greatest chance of them having damaging winds is up north. Stay weather-aware and remember - "when thunder roars, go indoors."
The heat and humidity will peak tomorrow. High temperatures will reach 80 degrees or higher. The only exception will be at beaches and along the immediate shoreline.
There is a risk of thunderstorms again tomorrow, but the rain won't be very widespread. There is a better chance of rain on Friday and then again on Sunday.
Cooler temperatures will arrive over the weekend. Next week will be even cooler.
