The heat has arrived! High temperatures today spike to near 87 degrees on average with some locations spiking to near 90 in interior New Jersey, like in Mercer or interior Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

Coastal areas experience a slight sea breeze that will keep temperatures in the lower to mid-70s instead. Some spots will be in the 60s on the barrier islands near Barnegat Bay. The sun is strong enough to get burnt! The UV Index is at 8 so sunscreen at SPF 30 or higher is a must.

This pattern persists through the midweek with highs reaching 92 tomorrow and maybe again on Thursday. This rivals record highs that were set in 1960 for April 15.

There are a few chances for rain. One of those chances being today, in the form of a rogue pop-up shower that passes by in the evening. It's not a widespread thing, but likely will be isolated to an unlucky few. There can be lightning. However, the humidity level isn't too high, so the chance is quite low.

The next primary rounds of rain will occur on Friday and Sunday with two fronts that drop temperatures with their passing. The weekend is more comfortable with highs in the 70s. Temperatures fall back to the 50s for early next week.
