Temperatures will be quite warm this week. But don’t put away the jackets just yet.

Are you ready for summer? It’s about to feel like it.

Just a few days ago, we were bundling up—dealing with blustery winds and overnight lows dipping into the 20s. Classic spring, right? Unpredictable as ever.

Now, we’re flipping the script in a big way.

Tomorrow’s high is expected to reach 83 degrees, which is nearly 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. That puts us right in line with cities like Tampa and Atlanta—yes, in mid-April!

But here’s the real headline: Wednesday could bring record-breaking heat.

By 9 a.m., temperatures are already expected to be in the 80s. That’s a strong signal we’re headed for a hot afternoon. The current record for April 15 in Central Park is 87 degrees, set back in 1941—and that’s exactly what we’re forecasting. If temperatures climb just a bit higher, we could see that record fall.

Typically, mid-April highs range from the upper 50s to the mid-70s. But we’ve seen this kind of early-season heat before—in fact, 2023 brought several days in the 90s.

So, is summer here?

Not quite.

Meteorological summer doesn’t begin until June 1, and the summer solstice arrives on June 21. So while this stretch may feel like summer, it’s really just a spring tease.

Enjoy the warmth while it’s here—but don’t put away those jackets just yet. Cooler days and chilly nights are still ahead before the real heat settles in.
